The world is constantly changing in terms of the technology we use every single day. No matter where you look or move, you are surrounded by all kinds of technological devices. There are very few people in today’s Denmark who do not have a smartphone in their pocket or a flat screen hanging at home. Over the past 5-10 years, we have also seen progress in the “innards” of the home itself, where, for example, light bulbs that can be controlled from the phone or speakers with voice control have gained traction.
One room in particular in the home may not have followed the development as well as the rest of the home – at least until now. In the bathroom, most people still have the same toilet as 10 years ago, and the sink may not have kept up with the times either.
Nowadays, modern bathrooms can contain a multitude of features in everything from the shower head to the toilet seat. For more than 10 years, we have at Focus Plus renovated bathrooms in both detached houses, apartments and holiday homes. Therefore, we have also seen and felt with our own eyes the technological development that has taken place in the period within products for the bathroom.
In this post, we have collected a small selection of the latest technological trends for your bathroom.
Touchless fittings
You certainly know them, but there are probably very few people who do not have to turn on the tap at home before water comes out. In new bathrooms, touch-free fixtures are gaining more and more prominence. There are several advantages to touchless fixtures, but it is your wallet in particular that can benefit from this type of fixture. The water stops automatically when you remove your hands. This can save you both water and energy.
In addition, you avoid having to touch the fitting, at least to a lesser extent than with regular arm trips, which contributes to maintaining good hygiene and keeping the bathroom clean and tidy.
Although touch-free fittings are both aesthetic and innovative, the more classic versions are still hugely popular. At Focus Plus, for example, we have a wide selection of beautiful shower fittings of the highest quality from both Danish Vola and Swedish Tapwell .
Smart mirrors
Just as in 2022 you can buy light bulbs or thermostats that can be controlled with an app on your phone, you can now get mirrors for the bathroom that can do the same. Just as you know it with light bulbs, there are on the market today, mirrors with integrated light that can be controlled from the phone or even with the voice. It is also possible to tailor different lighting settings for, for example, morning and evening, or when you are in the shower. It is also possible to buy mirrors today where you can see, for example, today’s weather forecast, traffic conditions in your area or news.
Other innovative inventions for the bathroom can be, for example, integrated speakers or a television that can withstand water.
As more devices in the home are connected to the home’s broadband, it is a good idea to ensure a stable and well-functioning internet connection. Here you can examine which ones with advantages internet solutions on the market, so you can ensure the best connection at the best price.
Intelligent showers
If you have had the same shower for the last 10 years, it might be worth considering a new one. Nowadays, there are a multitude of showers available, with various smart functions. For example, you can now get shower heads where you control the type of jet and the pressure on it. In addition, there are solutions where you can set the length of your bath and the temperature of the water. This can save you both time and money, all while you are sure to bathe at the same temperature every time.
If you are more into classic solutions, here at Focus Plus we have a large selection of, among other things, shower heads and washbasin fittings in attractive materials.
The clever toilet
Today’s toilet can do much more than just flush away your waste. Many of the latest features aim to ensure a more hygienic experience when you go to the toilet. Several toilets on the market come with a built-in odor extractor, which ensures that the bad smell is eliminated, while new technology can contribute to keeping the toilet clean and tidy after use – a function that can save you having to use the toilet brush. In addition, you can also get toilets with heated seats, (almost) lightless flushing or an automatic toilet seat, which can make going to the toilet a bit more comfortable.
Not everything has received a technological overhaul
However, some elements in the bathroom are also best left as we know them. Bathroom tiles and tiles still form a large part of your bathroom, both in terms of maintenance and aesthetics. Despite this, most tiles on the market are largely the same as they were both 10 and 20 years ago. New materials, production methods, patterns and colors are continuously gaining ground, but for example terrazzo tiles or lava stone tiles in the bathroom are exactly as technological as they were in the 70s.
