If you have tiles outside, you know the problem very well: moss and algae get stuck on the tiles, so they get grey, green and yellowish shields. But now it’s over with ugly tiles.

It’s not pretty to look at. And every year you have to roll up your sleeves and remove moss and algae with thorough cleaning and algaecide. Otherwise, the tiles will just get uglier over time. But the rough cleaning often destroys the surface of the tiles, so that the algae just takes hold even better next year. In other words: It’s actually a bit of a tedious Sisyphus task.

One treatment provides clean tiles for many years to come

Fortunately, this summer you can say goodbye to both ugly tiles and boring cleaning work. Because with a new, natural agent you can both remove moss, algae and other organic dirt on the tiles. And at the same time you ensure that it does not return. In fact, you can expect the tile treatment to be active for up to 15 years.
And the best thing is that it is neither troublesome nor toxic. “Active tile and concrete impregnation” is a natural water-based product where the active substance is the mineral titanium oxide. When titanium oxide is exposed to light, it begins to actively break down algae and other organic debris on the tiles. At the same time, the remedy prevents it from growing back. Titanium oxide binds chemically to the concrete and is active for years – therefore the tiles only require one treatment.

Environmental improvement initiative for the garden

Titanium oxide also has the additional function of purifying the air in your surroundings. The process that is set in motion when titanium dioxide is exposed to light is reminiscent of the photosynthesis of trees, where CO2 is converted into oxygen. Similarly, titanium oxide uses the sunlight to break down NOx pollution in the air, which comes from e.g. industry and car exhaust. The decomposed NOx is washed away by the rain. If you treat 100 m2 of tiles, it cleans the air in your surroundings equivalent to if you had six full-grown trees in the garden. The tile and concrete impregnation contains no poison and produces no color difference. The product consists of water mixed with the natural mineral titanium oxide, which i.a. found in the Norwegian mountains.

How to do it

On new and clean surfaces, Aktiv Flise and concrete impregnation can be applied directly without first cleaning with a spray or paint roller. In the case of older coverings, where the surface is attacked by moss and algae, the tiles are cleaned with Stonetreatment Grundrengøring. When the tiles are clean and dry, apply Stonetreatment Active tile and concrete impregnation with spray or paint roller.
