For many people, their kitchen has become one of the most important rooms today. It has become a space that can reflect one’s personality, regardless of whether one is into classic, modern or perhaps a slightly more daring design.

A kitchen is available in many price categories, and almost regardless of which kitchen you choose, it usually ends up being the biggest investment in the interior. There are many professional groups in games such as plumbing, electrician, joiner and painter. This also means that there is a lot that needs to be coordinated in order for the workflows to run smoothly.

Here are 10 tips from us to make your kitchen project a little easier.
  1. Prepare yourself as well as possible before the first meeting with the craftsmen. Show pictures for inspiration, draw and tell. The more information you can give your contractor, the more accurate price he can give you.
  2. If you live in an older apartment or house, the kitchen is usually located in a small room. Check whether it is possible to open the room up. If load-bearing walls are to come down, calculations must be made by the engineer.
  3. Have an electrical check done to see if you have enough power for the kitchen, if you are going to have an induction hob, a quooker etc. Eq. Available sockets must also operate on several circuits, so check with the electrician.
  4. Contact several kitchen suppliers and contractors to get the best offer. The contractor often has cooperation agreements with various suppliers.
  5. When you draw the kitchen, try to keep 120 cm between the worktops if you have a U-shaped kitchen or kitchen island in mind. The dishwasher and oven must be able to be opened at the same time.
  6. The most optimal workflow in the kitchen is achieved if you place the stove, refrigerator and sink in a triangle in relation to each other.
  7. Make a budget, set aside 10% for unforeseen expenses. If you maintain the location of the drains, there will always be a saving.
  8. Investigate what is possible in terms of exhaust in relation to the hob. There are many options, ceiling, table hood, etc.
  9. The floors will most likely have to be raised if you want a kitchen island, where there must be access to drinking water and electricity. Drainage and water supply are drawn under the floor.
  10. Choose a contractor who has good collaboration agreements with kitchen companies. There will clearly be a big saving if you can use the contractor’s agreements.
