Why should you choose an extension?
We get a lot of inquiries about making extensions in all sizes and shapes. But adding more m2 to your house easily becomes a half-sized project. It typically involves working with foundations, concrete decks, underfloor heating, external and internal construction of walls, new windows, roofs and facades.
But an extension can be a really good solution if you lack space in your current house and don’t want to move. Of course, you must have all the official things in place, such as an approval from the municipality. If you comply with boundary lines and height limits on your new extension, getting your building plan approved by the municipality should not be a big problem.
A good investment
As a rule of thumb, an extension is a very good investment – especially if you live in Greater Copenhagen. The price of an extension is typically from DKK 12-18,000 per m2 and up. It is mostly the choice of material that determines where you end up in terms of price on your new extension. It is cheap m2 compared to an investment in a larger house.
One must also consider such a project as an opportunity to look at one’s house with completely new eyes. An insulation facade system is often an option, which means you can lower your heating costs and get a really good indoor climate. Facade systems also give you the opportunity to change the look of your house and it is a good opportunity to create uniformity between the current house and the new extension, so that it all comes together in an aesthetic way.

We recommend that you always involve a main contractor for such a project, as it involves many professional groups, and it is important to have a good project board so that schedules, budgets and quality assurance are adhered to.
