Total renovation at the end of the road
It’s been quite a while since we first stepped into the cozy little half-timbered house in Charlottenlund. In fact, about 8 months have passed since the start of the project, which you can read about here. Now this total renovation is at the end of the road and it has turned out well. Very good!
It is an older house, so we have continuously had to come up with special solutions and it is always fun and challenging when we make something that is beyond standard. In addition, this customer has chosen some very nice materials and it is always a pleasure to work with.
Bathrooms:
In both bathrooms, we have laid handmade tiles from MAROKK on the floors and white glossy tiles from Fired Earth on the walls. The customer has chosen Vola fittings in brass in both bathrooms and Unidrain drains.
Floors:
In the spring, we knocked up all the floors on the ground floor so that we could lay insulation and cast new floors with underfloor heating. We have subsequently laid a pretty nice click floor and it ties the living room and kitchen together very well. We also removed a wall between the living rooms, so now there is a nice long flow from the entrance in the living room down to the kitchen.
Electrical and plumbing:
We have drawn new electricity and, as far as possible, replaced all old installations. It is always risky to continue working with old piping, as many are not legal at all today. You just need to know what strange solutions we sometimes encounter in old houses.
Carpentry:
The customer has chosen to have a number of special solutions made in the form of cabinets and flashings. Among other things, we have made a large cabinet in the hallway, which hides the “technical wall” – a lot of piping, hot water tank, soft water system, etc. We have also built a walk-in closet on the 1st floor.
Repainting:
Most of the walls and ceilings have been fully filled, felted and painted. The windows have also been given a round on the outside, so they are ready for winter.
Summary:
A total renovation as we like them best. There is something amazing about “starting over” and slowly seeing how the customer’s dream home becomes reality.
